Safe Parking Guide

A practical guide to safe and hassle-free parking based on three core principles: selecting well-lit, centered spots within CCTV range; concealing all valuables out of sight before arrival to deter theft; and properly preparing for parallel double-parking with the wheels straight and in neutral—strictly avoiding slopes to prevent accidents.

1. Choosing a Spot: "Bright – Within the Lines – Visible to Cameras"

Avoid blind spots: Do not park behind large pillars or in dark corners, as these are blind spots thieves prefer for committing crimes.

Park properly within the lines: Do not park over the lines to reduce the risk of neighboring cars hitting your car with their doors or scraping it while reversing.

Look for CCTV cameras: Park within the camera's radius or in zones frequently patrolled by security guards.

2. Valuables: "Keep Hidden – Don't Attract Attention"

Every bag is a target: Thieves don't know if there are valuables inside; just leaving a bag visible risks a smashed window for nothing.

Store items "before" arriving: Move important belongings to the trunk before entering the parking lot to prevent lurkers from watching you hide them.

Clear the traces: Put away all charging cables and window suction cups. Don't leave clues that let thieves guess you've hidden something in the glove compartment.

3. Double Parking: "Neutral Gear – Straight Wheels"

Always shift to Neutral (N): Never shift to Park (P) or engage the handbrake. This ensures the car can be pushed and won't block others.

Straighten the wheels: Very important! When others push your car, it won't veer off and scrape against adjacent vehicles.

Use wheel chocks on slopes: If you absolutely must double park on an incline, use small wheel chocks to block the wheels instead of pulling the handbrake.
